Last time I stepped foot into the city of Angels was when poor old me was 12 years old. Lost, cold in its 75 degree weather and wearing her grandma’s sweater. I was fresh off the boat.
With age comes wisdom because I realized the way to LA was not to walk or bus it. Public transportation was literally non existent. New Yorkers nightmare indeed. I made sure we were prepared with a rental and tons of patience. Though patience in a New Yorker is nothing more than waiting for 5 minutes. Oy vey the traffic drove me insane but it was lifestyle that nobody dared to fight against – except maybe my boyfriend – and me in the backseat yelling.
So yes. I would call it an unsuccessful success story. Along with a few pounds on the scare because eating tons and eating well is a lifestyle in the West as well.

9:30 Running through Korea town and making our way to my first meeting. But what would a visit to LA be without stops at Carl’s Jr. Yes, I eat tons of fast food. But Carl’s is the way to my heart – and arteries to say the least. Stopped into 1015 Store’s penthouse office and studio. Talks of styling and mini shooting their brand spanking new collection soon to hit you guys – hard! I fell in love with the city’s view – and the warm hearted people. New Yorkers need to warm up a bit – y’all mad rude.
10:30 Over a latte , sitting in pounds of traffic, who was I to think that five minutes would be enough travel time getting from point A to point B which was only 3 miles away from each other? I thought wrong obviously. Perhaps another round of lattes OR mimosas was needed. Thank God it was brunch at Cecconi’s West Hollywood next with my family from Salsit.
11:30: Another round of food from Cecconi’s because I was lucky enough that my next meeting was the table right next to mine already. Two brunches in one day? A girl’s dream come true. Finally able to meet everyone from Instabrand. Chai Vanilla Lattes and Mimosas over business and babes definitely took my mind off the traffic.
1:30: Sit in as much traffic as it is required because apparently this is a tourist spot as well. Number one , actually. But the Grove was profound. Busy, but beautiful. I wish the East had outdoor shops and promenades as eloquent as these. Met up with My girls Aimee Song and Emily. Revolve’s Pop up was just as I expected it to be. A blogger’s dream shop. I wish I could have stayed. But, onto the next stop.
3:00 All those years of changing in a backseat of a moving vehicle thanks to photoshoots in New York’s streets has paid off. By midday in LA, I got smart enough to make use of the traffic and change outfits while sitting in it for my next meeting: A Gypsy Warrior x Pacsun Shoot and Blogger meet and greet with a few of my babes at Perch’s Rooftop.

4:30 By this time, I’ve forgotten how New York looked. How it’s chill felt. I’ve fallen involve with the City of Angels. Oh what have you done to me.

5:30 Time to meet my followers. Thank you Reformation for being amazing about our Meet and Greet. Thank you to all of you who came out and met me. I’ve made tons of friends that day!

7:00: Spend the rest of your afternoon in Downtown Los Angeles – by far my favourite area, perhaps for its similarities to New York. The main intersection you want to hit is South Broadway and West 9th Street – your hit-list is as follow:
- Acne store and its adjoining café with friendly Swedes and great iced tea
- Umami Burger – Alex claimed that the Ahi Tuna burger was the best thing he’s ever tasted
- OAK NYC store – a great selection ranging from Scandi-minimal wear all the way through to irridescent flatforms. Mostly black-and-white and muted, with the raddest retail staff that ever did rad
- Nails on 9th is legitimately the best mani-pedi I’ve ever had
- Urban Outfitters – unlike New York (where UO stores are pretty much the same), LA stores vary quite significantly in their interior design and product selection. Of all of the menswear sections I uprooted, the South Broadway store was definitely the most impressive
8:00 PM: Wind up and wind down at the Ace Hotel’s rooftop bar – brunch is also allegedly excellent here. Sunset over downtown is magical.
