Growing up , my mom used to force me into dresses. Meanwhile I was more of the Alex Mack type of girl ~ the cuffed jeans paired with the Toy Story T shirt and Barbie sneakers. The laces and trimmings were just not my “thing”.
Then my little sister came along and she too was forced into the pink skirts and poofy sleeved outfits. So I guess you can say it wasn’t half as bad when I had someone to share that sorrow with! Until my mom decided to make us indentical poofy-sleeved, laced and emrboidered dresses. NOT ONE, but tons of them! Every time I wore those dresses, all Jeanne could think of were jeans.
But then I met Eugenie of Feral Creature. Who just so happened to be Grey, with the same taste and the same humor as I. Skeptical of each other, I don’t think anyone actually thought we would get along — THIS MUCH. Not even ourselves. But we did, and still do. More as sisters now if I may.
Just as if I was 8 again, we decided to be as identical as possible picking the same Sachin and Babi ivory dress and grabbing the same Dark Grey Urbanears headphones at the same time over some champagne. And just like that, wearing the same dress and being identical wasn’t so bad anymore!
Still different underneath these dresses in more ways than one but our similarities have tied us together and brought us to this hilarious, supportive, kind and strong bond that I wouldn’t exchange for anything. We have become, The Greys.
