One upon a time, I fell.
Not sure if it’s the attitude vibrating through the people, or the noise from everything around you that wakes your senses up and brings you to perspective. But the city has taught me so much. One of my most recent posts talk about the concrete jungle’s harsh beatings that make you bleed to the bone. These scars are skin deep, lessons forever embedded into my being.
1. “Learn to be quiet just as you learn to talk.”
If talking guides you, being quiet protects you. By being quiet, you attain two characteristics: you are able to take knowledge from those more knowledgeable than you and you are able to repel the ignorance of those more ignorant than you.
2. Comfortable shoes will be your best friend.
Nobody drives in Manhattan. Walk it just as you talk it. Don’t come home until you’ve ripped those Chucks and dirtied those vans.
3. Let it go.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a relationship, a lifestyle, or a job. if it doesn’t make you happy let it go. The Concrete Jungle has a home for everyone. Do what you love in the city and the city will love you and reward you back. Everyone wins.
4. Character over Clothes (Unless it’s Street People Atelier Tees, duh).
These shirts have a story, but more so have an attitude to them. Dress it up with an oversizes crisp coat and tuck your boyfriend’s favorite button up tee unerneath to create a Trendy Oxford Oversized situation. You want to be approachable but need them to see you under a certain light. Their minimal aesthetic fits into anyone’s wardrobe.
5. Trust Vibes, energy never lies.
There is over 3 million people in Manhattan. Getting lost between souls happen, but don’t you dare, for one more second, surround yourself with people who are not aware of the greatness that you are.
Once Upon a time, I fell.
Hard.
But climbing back up built me to be ten times stronger which allows me to share these lessons that my scars have held. Every single time, choose the fall. Sometimes you don’t have to choose to, it chooses you, and that’s okay. We all need a good fall to know where we stand. Then pick up a Street People Atelier tee to share that story.
