Atleast not in my circle you can’t. Either you’re all in or you’re completely out. The truth and only nothing but.
I’ve had a long list of people that have come into my life. There have been many, however only few felt truly real. Only a few I have let into my circle of weirdness. Being one of the spectators watching the races, I’ve noticed that each was on their own. No one to help you, no one to push you but the chemistry of every jockey and his horse.
Flying through fields of dirt, both were in it together, win or lose. God forbid one felt indifferently towards the other and they might as well forget winning altogether. No one thought the other was right, nor did the other have pride in the matter. Both simply gave into one another their full trust. All pride aside , with no room for arguments, both knew none of that was worth it at that spectacular moment. And I guess that’s how it works in the races, sometimes to win, you must win through silence, together. You win out of humility as you trust one another on the outcome. For the good of your team. You win out of working together, leaving no one behind.
Such a hard thing to come by these days. Everyone seems to horse around when it comes to friendships and relationships. Picking useless fights while selfishly wanting to win the race solely for himself alone when in reality, what is a horserace without a horse let alone a race without a jockey?
In the races, they are not known as the jockey, nor known as the horse, but a team working together in unison with trust, humility, surrender and friendship that’s been built in their chemistry. No terms and conditions, they’re accepting and in it together for the win. The teams who truimph, are the ones that have understood with open minds, and have forgotten what pride is in their vocabulary.
We need people like this in our lives. Our energy doesn’t need any noise and definitely doesn’t need any horsing around. Be the one to push, to compel in the other to never settle and to become the best version of themselves. Be the one who nurtures and builds. Be the one who has an understanding and forgiving heart. Be the one who looks for the best in people. Leave people better than you found them. And that’s how you win the race.
Alyssa and I bet a slice of our wallets during the races, not necessarily winning them all back, but I am willing to bet my bottom dollar on those who have done nothing but empower, nurture and lift our friendship up that I know it to win a thousand folds.
