5 steps to starting your morning right

Establishing an AM routine when you’re not a morning person is impossible. Or is it?

I’m not a morning person. There I said it. It takes a change of mindset to never hit that snooze button early on Mondays. * Raises hand, guilty*.

However, making the most of this prep time can have a major impact on how you look and feel throughout the day. To start off on the right foot, put down the phone ( Yes, no more scrolling through endless feeds before your first piss.) and try these five rituals for radiant skin, good energy and positive vibes aplenty.

  1. Skip on your morning coffee. WHY? Coffee’s extended caffeine never gets you through noon. On top of that, gives my massive headaches through the day. Not to mention the only way to rid off that headache is by another cup of coffee to complete the evil cycle.

So what then? MATCHA GIRL, MATCHA. You might not believe it but Match has more caffeine that coffee. More concentrated than green tea, it’s got ten times more antioxidants than a regular brewed green tea.  The caffeine boost is a calm flow that lasts up to 8 hours — longer, more gentle and stronger than your average cold brew.

2. Stretch. WHY?  If a morning workout isn’t an option for you, simple stretching is a worthy alternative. Several minutes of activity after you wake will increase blood flow throughout your body, including to the brain (which is important to encourage a productive day at work). Especially for those with desk jobs, stretching can alleviate aches and pains associated with being sedentary and improve posture over time. The combined benefits of the practice will give you that well-rested glow and set the tone for a healthy, happy day. And ofcourse, Matcha. 🙂

3. Lemon Water. WHY? Skip your sugary midday latte and opt for Lemon Water if you’re still energized by your morning matcha. Lemon water got so much buzz last season due to its great effects on the body’s PH levels, wake up your liver, digestive tracts and keep you detoxified throughout the day.

4. Meditate. WHY? When you’ve set your day’s intent and focus, you are ready. You can’t simply go into battle not knowing what you’re doing. Rather than jumping directly onto a pile of emails, try to center yourself. It balances and creates more room for creativity with less anxiety. Try downloading Headspace for starters.

5. Make someone else’s day. WHY? It’s a proven fact that seratonin levels increase as you help produce someone else’s. Pay for someone’s lunch, have a conversation with a new coworker, say thank you for than usual, or share a cup of matcha with someone 🙂

Have a good morning, gorgeous!

In Collaboration with Aiya Matcha.

( Tons of people ask where I get my matcha from. Aiya matcha has the purest and high quality matcha I’ve ever tried. Note to be very careful with other brands as matcha can carry lead if not bought from high grade brands like Aiya Matcha).
