And I thought we’ve left Los Angeles for a sec.
As if we’ve stepped into Asia itself. Crispy rice dishes, Ambrosial rolls made of gold, Lush and luxurious seafood plates. It was a match made in heaven.
The starter was a Koi Crispy rice topped with spicy tuna and yellow tail tartare. A creative mix of spice and salt. Adored the combination of the tartare with the crisp rice. It was a beginning of a very tasteful relationship. I could already feel it.
Following that were mini lobster tacos. Raveled in Mango salsa and homemade yuzu guac. Shells so soft, they melted in my mouth.
Dish after dish, exotic tastes after mouthful surprises, the following dish was a fun Creamy Shrimp Tempura. Peeled shrimp done to a crisp and smothered in spicy sauce.
And you think we would be done by now.
NO.
Saving the best for last, the Salmon Carpaccio was my ultimate favorite. It reminds me of a traditional Japanese dish made in someone’s home kitchen, with a modern and luxurious twist. The Truffle Ponzu was to die for. It complimented the Salmon sashimi so well that you’d end up dipping everything else you’ve got into the ponzu because every drop is too beautiful to waste.
Now for the rolls.
She’s so LA is exactly that. 24k ruffled gold sprinkled on top and a surprise of soft shell crab within the roll which makes the entire creation so fun to eat! Not to mention very photogenic.
Now for my favorite roll:
The Geleno Roll.
An award winning creation named after the Angelino magazine contest for sushi restaurants. The roll was created to simply be a part of the content, but ended up being loved by all and now is a staple in the restaurant.
An experience of heavenly flavors, and now I’m off to The Koi Restaurant in New York!
