On culture, the new age, and long skirts.
Yes I am Filipino. No my mom is not a nurse.
I come from a very conservative family. One where only certain known careers are acceptable. My parents never fully understood what I did when I first started GREYLAYERS. Parents only want the best for you and when it comes to wanting the best for your future, it’s justified. However, you’ll be surprised how much respect they have when you prove that you can strike a great balance between doing the things you love and being responsible for your future.
They say old minds can’t learn new tricks. In this case, it can. In my case, she did. In our case, Karen Millen proves that her pieces can be worn and rocked by any woman in age.
I balanced my long maxi skirt with a chiffon button down and sneakers for an edge. Mom decided to keep it chic with a sleepless top and paired her similar skirt with platform heels for a youthful femme touch.
Anything is possible with the right amount of balance ( and the perfect skirts to match). And sure enough, It’s easy to say that I got it from my mama.
