Any blogger who says they are always swimming with ideas and content is lying. Every artist, entrepreneur or creative will feel some type of “writer’s block” at some point. With that being said, in all honesty, I will admit to being “stuck” here and there.
It gets worse when you try and get something done but truly can’t as if every creative juice has been squeezed dry out of you. A few things I have been trying as of late to get my mind out of the gutter and onto a blogpost:
Go away.
Seriously, go. To the park, to a coffee shop, to a museum. There is inspiration elsewhere other than your quaint couch and eyes desperately glued to your laptop.
Read.
I’ve learned that only through reading can one write. There’s absolutely no way to be able to speak without reading and definitely zero way of writing without reading too. Always fill yourself with information. Be it literature to get inspired of new ways to write, or current events to help tie in blogposts to your readers current concerns.
Hit Pause.
Sometimes we need it. Don’t ever feel like you ‘need’ to push yourself. Art should flow. Write about things you are passionate of. Write about things you connect with. Don’t just simply write, just to write. No content is better than shitty content. Let your mind take a much needed weekend to get the juices flowing once more.
Recycle.
Circle back into your previous contents from the wee years and revamp. You’ll be surprised at how your old self can suddenly inspire you!
Just stop.
With anything related to your field. Altogether, stop. Go take yourself out on a mani-pedi, indulge in brunch. stop and actually smell and pick up flowers along the way. You’ll find yourself writing in no time.
You can thank me later.
