Parties in your honor, festivities just because, ah the engaged life — the perfect excuse to splurge on a dress. It may look perfect and pretty and cute as it sends all sorts of lovey dovey vibes but sometimes, a seating chart isn’t just a seating chart and the best part : No one EVER wants to talk about the back end.
Planning weddings become dry runs of your relationship. I’ve learned that the things we battle on now become hints of what we may battle with in the future. No one needs to quarrel about dirty white and its difference between ivory white — IT’S WHITE. Thank God I’m not particular to that extent. During the planning process, it’s important to take this time for yourselves too. Here’s a few things I suggest to other bride-to-be’s out there:
Plan a Mini Getaway.
It doesn’t have to break the bank. A little bnb three hours away will be the perfect weekend trip to refreshen you and your beloved fiancee. Oh and make sure zero wedding talk!
Keep doing the little things.
Whatever you’ve been doing as a girlfriend before, keep doing as his fiancee, and keep doing that down to being his wife. Nothing should change just because the title is. The secret is consistency of quality. It doesn’t cost a dime to slip a little love note when packing his lunch. Or surprising him by picking him up after work.
Talk about something else.
Before you were engaged you talked about everything under the sun. Why stop now? Make sure you continue non wedding conversations to not lose site of you and him.
