“Are you ready to live your best life?” I remember the day, the time, the second he asked me that. At the time, I had zero idea what in the world he meant. Everyone says weird things all the time. This could just be “one of those”. I never really get to talk about my relationship with Varick or highlight the emotions behind a post I’d upload on us. So here goes.

If you check your horoscope daily, there’s a good chance you align majority of your life’s knick knacks according to the stars as well. I mean, I’ve always wondered why I’m only attracted to similar notes in a scent and it’s always almost similar each time. Check out what scent your sign correlates with. Tocca for the Taurus and The Aries For the fire starters and the thrill seekers, the warm spicy notes meshed with a sharp masculine base attracts you the most. The Matcha for the Cancer and Gemini For the thinkers, the insiders and the influencers, they seek refreshing notes like green cognac mixed with soft clean bases and citruses with white flowers. This one’s for you. Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf for the Virgo and Leo For the creative, the expressionist, the “I will”, The Flowerbomb’s explosion of the most alluring flowers sprinkled with patchouli and vanilla, this everfeminine scent captures these creatives the most. Mon Paris by Yves Saint Laurent for the Scorpio and Libra For the craftsman, the peacemaker, the “I balance”, this luxurious mix of red berries and pear that exude sensual feminism immediately captures these gentle creatures. Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel for the Sagittarius and Capricorn To channel this nomadic, adventurous, master sign, look for a grasse jasmine and may rose mix with the slightest hint of vetiver. Blanche by Byredo for the Aquarius and Pisces For the artist, the philosopher, the mobilizer, the “I knows”, they typically get attracted to notes of white rose heart, pink pepper and aldehyde with a musk base for the perfect fresh and clean smell.

When you’re juggling a company, a full time second shift at home running a household, raising a puppy and in charge of a handful of employees, you know there are days where you just wanna hit snooze and just … not. I know because I’ve been there. But what really get’s done when you brush things off? Here’s how to not: Organize, organize, organize – Organize your time like you organize your clothes in color coordinated ways. Allot six hours to your brand, two hours for household duties, forty-five minutes for your pup and always save an hour for yourself and help you find clearer focus. It’s okay to take a step back – This never means you hit that snooze. This means you are taking it on a slower pace. Slower never means stop. It means going but more carefully. Not a bad thing, promise. Ask for help when needed – Not a weakness my friends. It’s a strength mostly overlooked as such. We are so caught up trying to be hands on with everything in our lives that we forget to be human. To breathe. To recharge. To relax. For one minute. For one sec. Hire someone to help you run your brand, or clean up a little over at your little humble abode. You’re investing to spend on someone else to lend a helping hand or two, you’ll be surprised how much you’ll get done without overly stressing yourself. When the tough gets going, get tougher. Getting tougher never means doing things by yourself. It only means being smarter. Good luck and go get it.

I love coffee. For all of you who’s known me for quite some time now, you know I’ve tried my hardest to shun away from this tall, dark and handsome thang — and failed numerous times as I’ve ( tried ) converting to tea and matcha amongst the many hipster ways. With pros and cons that came with it, I find that NYFW falls into this category as well. While everyone may be out to write about this seaon’s hottest runway trends and backstage nuance, I’m here to write about what no one write about. I find myself reminiscing back in 08 when NYFW was in one place, in tents within the vast Bryant Park grounds. Back when the music was louder, the designers were stronger and the crowds as classy as the LBD forever is. This season I felt myself unattached more than previous seasons. I found myself in the gargantuan emptiness of the White Sands in New Mexico instead of the Moynihan station. I touched the waters of the Aegan sea and breathed Grecian air while basking in the afternoon Athenian light during coffee breaks by the ruins. To simply put, I found myself occupied by the world than the fashion world. Never a bad thing at all especially when the metropolitan manhattan tundra is at its coldest and your boots are up to your neck. I think most times we are so inclined to not miss this oh so incredibly important part of the year that we actually do miss out. In adventures someplace else. In making new relationships within new grounds. In exploring new heights in new parts of the globe. Remember fashion sleeps with one eye open, trends come and go but your time, is ticking as you are reading this. Fashion week is not the end all and be all. I needed this break and I’m here to remind you to take breaks as often as you’d like because it’s okay. So go. Not for the gram, not for trends. Go someplace else and make that mark, drinking that cup of coffee elsewhere ( Perhaps September NYFW which is where I’ll see you all at again!). Huge thanks to my every loving, ever supportive TEAM GREYLAYERS for taking care of NYFW this season in Manhattan.
