A much needed day away from work, my desk, the computer, emails ~ everything. Inspired by the contrasting brutality of summer whites and wintery moonscape shorelines we shot for this post, I spent today wandering the Eastern seaside in ivory mesh bathing suits and cotton tees. Nothing puts my worries into perspective, calms my soul or ignites my imagination quite like the ocean and a little bit of Joah Brown. Joah and I are giving away a free top! Here’s how you enter: JOAH BROWN x JEANNE GREY GIVEAWAY 1. Follow @the.grey and @joahbrown 2. Hashtag #summerinjoah 3. Repost the giveaway photo as many times as you wish until end of Monday July 28, 2014 11:59pm ! Goodluck darlings! I will be announcing the winner of the Tee on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. The winner’s package will be personally sent by Joah Brown for them to enjoy! Jeanne wears [ White Mesh Bikini by Kandy Wrappers, White Swing Tee by Joah Brown]

Space 46 Boutique and their one of a kind curations have not ceased to amaze me. First their tulle skirt – Skyllar, feminine and delicate. Then a completely different feel to a skirt in their company, say hi to their Swing Skirt! As seen on other bloggers styled more feminine, I decided to give mine a bit more of an urban twist. Yes, those are Air Jordans ~ Don’t judge. Jeanne wears [ Backless Bodysuit by Ruby and Jenna, Swing Skirt by Space46 Boutique, hat by Urban Outfitters, Sneakers by Nike] Post in Collaboration with Space46 Boutique as seen in Bloomingdale’s. Thank you Varick for the photos.

I find I’m often asked: “how did you grow GreyLayers?.” Besides the usual {blood, sweat and tears – regular tears}, one of the most important things I think a great blog should have is dedication. Yes there’s still an entire world of space for improvement – most definitely! However another important factor in having an outstanding blog is admiration. 1. Once in a while it is good to take a step back, get a good look at your work and admire it instead of criticizing it. 2. Keep an open mind. Sit down, take a breath, crab a cup of coffee ( maybe add some photogenic snacks on hand to keep those creative juices flowing) and find new topics to write about. Perhaps writing about fashion 365 days a year can be boring. So mix it up once a week and insert a few posts on interior ideas! (This actually ends up making you want to re-do your entire apartment! I am your living proof.) Variety keeps your blog fresh. Since we are in the subject of keeping an open mind, Opening up to fellow bloggers and brand or companies is a great way to network! Two heads are always better than one and collaborations are never a bad thing! 3. Figure out what you can eliminate on your blog. Has your layout been the same one since 2001? Get rid of that. Little things such as font sizing and background colors matter, believe it or not. Are you connected to social media? To get better traffic and have more people discover your blog, create links that connect to your Instagram and Twitter handle! Are you updating enough? Like anything else in the world, disappearing for a day can cause your audience to lose interest. Have a month of posts planned ahead to know you will have a month filled with well thought out posts for your audience. Consistency is key. If you’re serious about growing your blog, investing in what will help you stand out from the crowd is critical. As I always say, if you want your blog to be your business, you have to treat it like one. xo, JG

I had the absolute pleasure of spending a few hours goofing around and enjoying the beautiful weather at Kandy Wrappers HQ. Ever since I snapped the beautiful pieces that would be dropping in stores starting this month, I have been longing more of the ocean. Thankfully the weather is only getting warmer which gives me more reasons to drive down the shore. I have always been a fan of unique bikinis, one-pieces and boardies that make you create a statement by the ocean. The exceptionally radiant collection of Kandy Wrappers along with its amazing price points will make you want them all. A Wednesday morning well spent! Make sure you head over to their Instagram and website to order your suite!

Let’s talk about some summer trends! I love watching what’s on-trend at the moment & what’s gonna be on trend a little later. Here are my top 5 favorite summer key-items which you definitely need in your wardrobe this season: THE TRIANGLE BRA OR THE LACE BRA Last summer it was already a must-have, but this season they’re totally back. I love the simplicity is this triangle bra from Urban Outfitters. THE SQUARE SCARF Probably you’ve already seen it on a several bloggers, the square scarf is such a nice item to fresh up your outfit. It reminds me of my childhood, when I was wearing square scarfs in blue and red like crazy 😉 Now you can find them in bright colors with nice graphic prints, but also in black and white like this one from & Other Stories. Especially the silk ones are my favorites! THE BLACK SANDALS OR SLIDES You can’t avoid them this summer. I already got myself the hairy slides from Jennie-Ellen, but I definitely need this wonderful pair of sandals from & Other Stories. The different straps are so good! THE CULOTTES Already spook about these pants (these are from Zara btw) a couple of weeks ago. They’re super hot this summer, but also in winter they’re there. Saw some of them from Hope, they were a little longer and made of denim, super cool but not cool for everyone I think. Do you like the trend? JOAH BROWN TANKS & TOPS Basics are back! Well, they never really left. Joah Brown tanks are like tanks on ‘roids! The materials are of such high quality allowing the piece to drape perfectly onto your body. One won’t be enough. Once you own Joah, you’ll never go back! xo, JG
