The age of transparency has taught us that secrets have no meanings anymore. That those who keep secrets end up falling off the radar, unable to grow. Honesty and having an open mindset is the new trend just as Chiffon seems to be everyone’s new bestie this fall. “Secrets are inexistent” , Lagerfeld says. I’m sorry Lagerfeld , but I will beg to differ on a certain extent. There are good parts and bad to all that exists. With that being said, let’s concentrate on the good for now. To you readers who are forever asking how to grow your blogs, I won’t ever stop repeating myself: Collaborate. Open up. “Connections whether extensive or little, with always benefit you, ” says my sheer side. The other side never reveals secret number two. Get creative and build that yourself. Today, I had the pleasure of working with AKA Clothing , a UK brand. Very well known in the UK and growing widely in the United States, their luxury contemporary collection has been seen on bloggers such as Arrest This Gal, Rebellionaire, Rachel T. Tyler, Visa Lom, Francis Lola and many more across the country sharing the same love for this amazing brand. Sheer leaves the imagination with enough wonder just as secrets leave just that right amount of mystery with that balance of respect. Too much and it becomes tasteless ~insignificant even. You become nothing as you reveal more. This is why I believe girls need not take their clothes off to be beautiful, significant and successful. Ladies, there is a right amount in everything. Balance. Givenchy, Marchesa, Prada and Versace. Then there’s street wear. You’ve probably already released that fitted / Jordans / graphic tee generic image in your head when the word street wear came around. Sure, day beds are furnishings meant to brighten living rooms, giving them that “ushe” vintage Pier 1-esque feel to your home. But elaborate on that day bed just a tad harder and it can belong in your backyard balcony for a whole ‘nother outdoor getaway feel. Yup, no need for that Miami trip. No no, I am not suddenly switching my blog into an interior blogger’s, although perhaps I should start doing a few posts on that.. But let’s concentrate. Concentrate on the fact that clothing are just as versatile, if not, more. So now I want you to look closely at each patchwork, each detail. Look rigorously at every stitch, corner and lining. Lanvin, Baker, Cardin, Valentino, or perhaps it is my dear friend Wang. Until you are severely certain, look closer. Ladies and Gentlemen, unfortunately, I am fortunately lathered in street wear from head to toe. Mix a mindset of high fashion inspirations with touches of street and you can’t ever go wrong. It’s a promise. Not every pair of sneakers should always only stay within the realm of streetwear. Nor should every HBA, Supreme, or Staple piece every only be worn the street wear way. Think outside the box and change the game. Keep your mind on high fashion as you tweak with the streets’. So if for one second you second guess street wear brands ever again, guess again. They are more versatile than you think. In Collaboration with Evolve Clothing Gallery’s Fall Collection. To order or purchase, check out their Social Mediums and Website. Because there are none. My friends will never understand the idea of a home-cooked meal at 7:30 pm followed by some HGTV for dessert over an EDM concert day in and day out ~ nor will my boyfriend ever really understand how on earth it’s possible to create a look with a dress and a pair of pants. Same goes for collaborations and the psychobable of how only certain people should work with “their kind.” NO. Just because we are in our twenties, does not mean there is a rule of constant racket, beer pong and repetitive tumultuous house music. Alongside the subject of collaborations: Collaborate with people who speak an entirely different language. Collaborate with people who aren’t your age. Work with those who don’t come from the same “range of work” as yourself. Every person you meet tells a story and is a story. They all have something to bring to the table. As for Shresses, well, they have a mind of their own and will one day just find their way to become a crop top or even a jacket. Who on Earth knows. The idea is to think beyond your comfort zone, go beyond what is known to you, explore the weird horizons that the common mind would never think to. There are no limitations. This dress here for instance, now a shress is cut in a very feminine way. If you all know me by now, I love blurring the lines that define what masculine is and what femininity should be. Again, there are no rules. Have fun with it. Lynn of ChicpeaJC, the sweetest most open minded lady I grew incredibly fond of, fell in love with the twist on her little ‘fit during our little collaboration together. She dared to stray from her comforting vintage pieces and went all lathered in leather and Zara , finishing the look off with these fiery red pumps. No rules. And the ones that exist are meant to be broken. At the end of the day, it’ll either be a lesson, a blessing or even a bangin’ outfit. In my case, it was all three, plus a new friend. 1. Navy Blue is your new best friend. Navy is the new black. Kill fall fabulously with all things navy. 2. Stand by the mantra of having two statement pieces in a single outfit. The louder the better ~ in ways of class of course. 3. Just because you are in the business of blogging does not mean you forget about your character and culture. Leave egos at the door. Stay respectful, collaborative, curious and open minded. Be kind to the people you meet along your way up . You will meet them again when you visit downtown. As a friend has mentioned once, ” Change the game, don’t let the game change you.” Amaze September and she will amaze you right back. Make up changes your mindset. The power in lipstick ~ one smear and you are ready to face the world with open arms. The right heels and you’re a new woman ready to take on what life gives off. Then there are jeans: The perfect pair worn and I feel unattainable and unstoppable. Dressing up has become a source of power to me. To the public’s naked eye, it may seem strange that at 9 a.m. in the brittle day light, the world half asleep and literally half the earth still dozed off, here you are in a full outfit, dashed in heels, rouge lipstick and your bright orange Birkin tote. To the public’s naked eye the burning question of : “Who is this girl dressing up for, to impress at 9 am” , is inevitable. Nobody. Not for him and most definitely not for the other girls. If women felt the need to dress for male’s attention, heck we might as well not wear a thing! If it were for other women, no woman is going to ever get it right then , is she ? The power of an outfit it much more powerful than you think. A ton of you will agree. Then there will be a few handful that will subtly laugh at this remark. But these are the same handful that will test this theory out first chance they get tomorrow morning. But let’s focus. An outfit makes you feel like you are yourself. It makes you feel focused. Glorious. A risk taker out ready to take on the day’s punches. Rock the outfits ( the crazier, the better. forget the rules.) Life serves the risk takers. Stay Bold Loves!
