If you can’t beat ’em , join em, as the old saying goes. She’s narrow minded, arrogant at times ( most times), hard headed and has tendencies of cold heartedness. Mother nature is not to be messed with. Especially not in the brutal tundra that is New York City. Being that this was my first February experiencing Fashion Week, and being that the biggest dilemma is usually contructing outfits, I resulted to do an all white look ( for the most part of the week.) BJI GROUP TRADE SHOW : New York City

The biggest and only trade show presenting Accessories The Show and MODA alongside Printed Village has invited me to host this year’s SS/2015 New York City Show!  Getting that email nearly gave me a heart attack but it would have been for the good of fashion so maybe I could have made an exception ~   NEW YORK BJI Fashion Group creates the world’s largest and most vibrant marketplace for juried accessories and brands each and every season.  Travelling from Las Vegas and having shows all across the country, their mission is to provide designers and retailers with an inspiring and enjoyable place of networking. Designers are able to conduct business with their better customers and prospects from around the globe in a refined and elegant environment while giving retailers the opportunity to discover everything from the latest trends to updated classics. Come hang with myself and Printed Village this upcoming January 4, 5 and 6th of 2015 at the Jacob Javits Center’s Lounge for some flash tatting and refreshments and photos!

Polar Vortex

After getting used to warmer mornings and sleeping in with tanks, I woke up realizing that it might be time for knitted blankets and 2 inch thick comforters ; tea on your bedside and real pajama pants for that extra layer. The truth? Winter is here. I’m known for my minimal palette. Blacks, whites and Greys. To switch it up, I’ve partnered with my favorite couple and owners of E.Tittlemouse for a vintage-chic inspired lookbook that’s sure to scare the Polar Vortex away.

Gypsy Warrior FNO Event

Do what you love and love what you do. The short / sweet version. It’s funny how I’ve always held onto that as far as I was about 6. I remember it started with wanting to be Pocahontas when I grew up. Then it changed into a business woman after I found out how much fun it was to write on expired checks and hand it over to everyone at my mom’s old office on those “take your child to work days.” Then when I was about 10, I realized that writing checks isn’t for me after all. I’d rather be receiving them anyway * hair flip*. Then something amazing happened. I met Nicla and Michel, the founders of Gypsy Warrior, the boss ladies of loving what you do, the girls of adventure and all things Gypsy Warrior, the movers and shakers.  Along with the whole brand, they’ve empowered in me to believe in that possibility. Do not let the harsh reality of society make you abandon your passions. Follow your heart, but let your mind guide you along as well. Start somewhere, continue, and once you’ve reached your destination, keep going. Don’t be content, never forget why you started and most importantly the only reason for you to look back is to see how far you’ve come. I love adventure, I love inspiring women and I love the business aspect of fashion and fashion itself. I guess becoming Pocahontas and being a business woman while loving fashion was possible after all. To those who came out and enjoyed Gypsy Warrior’s Fashion Night Out, thanks for coming through! It was such an inspiring evening at their Ridgewood location. Sundays well spent

Good Morning and Happy Sunday to all of you beautiful people! Today I will act as your morning paper ~ only better. They say to have a great day, you have to walk to it. To have a divine day, you have to start it off with optimism and confident thoughts. This is where I come into play. You all are my inspiration, so the main goal of GreyLayers is to only be your constant inspiration right back. I am beautiful We all have something about ourselves that we love – what’s that thing for you? Focus on it, have a look in the mirror, put on a smile and tell yourself you’re beautiful, because you are! I can make a difference Your day job might not make you feel like you’re changing the world,  but you can make a huge difference by simply having a positive attitude and passing that on to others. Happiness is contagious, so spread it around! I am enough You are worthy of whatever opportunities that come your way! Today is a new day Yesterday is in the past – and we can only ever live in the present. Forget what went wrong yesterday and think about what can go right today! It doesn’t have to be perfect So many of us spend our lives in the quest of perfection, only to feel forever unfilled as this perfection doesn’t actually exist. Whatever you’re making/creating/doing, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t be so hard on yourself We can all be our own worst critics. If you make a mistake, it’s not the end of the world and they can’t be undone, but they can be rectified. Pencils have erasers for a reason. Breathe Feeling stressed? Anxious? Annoyed? Just breathe. You’ll feel better, I promise. I love you Say this to yourself and mean it! You can only ever be you, so make sure you love who you are. Today will be a good day Any day can be a good day if you choose it to be! I’m grateful for.. Appreciate all the wonderful things, people and opportunities you have in your life. A grateful heart is a beautiful thing, and it shines through in everything you do.  A Sunday well spent gives a week of content. Love to all and have a great week ahead! xo,JG
